Teach Soap

Hi All!
Have been gone for a while, but back with a question. I like to experiment with different oils, milks, and scents. I have Ginger-Lime only in melt and pour. Love the scent, it's refreshing!. Today I thought I'd use it in CP...well, I knew it accelarated, thus I soaped at 100 deg F, and added the F/O into the oils B4 adding lye. At super thin trace, added the color, and it started thickening..wow, I have experienced other F/O that accelerated, but not this fast. My question is what other factors do I have to employ to slow down trace?
All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Water content, temperature and the catalysts (oils & scents) are the things that affect the rate of trace. The ratio of quick moving oils in your recipe can affect trace. So watch your recipe and don't use a high percentage of the faster moving oils/butters (Babassu Oil,Coconut Oil,Castor Oil,Cocoa Butter,Lanolin,Lard,Palm, PKO,Shea Butter, Tallow, and Pomace Oil) when you know that you are using a scent that will be fast to trace. Either use olive oil or at least use a more balanced recipe, and you can slow the trace that way. Other than recipe, you can soap at full water (but I'd rather change the recipe than the water) and/or cooler temps. These are your only choices, other than not using those particular FO's in soap. Some really are just good for lotions and other products besides soap!

Sometimes the different blends used to make a fragrance oil change how much it accelerates. If you try a different company's Ginger-Lime fo it might behave better. It may or may not smell better too. Good luck!

I love BB's Ginger Lime! I soaped cool and had plenty of time for an ITP swirl.

Linda, does is discolor at all? I've got weeks to wait for my version to cure but am curious about BB's fo.
