Teach Soap

I just ordered a 35lb bucket of palm oil because the 7lb ones just don't cut it anymore. What is the easiest way to mix up the bucket? I'll be putting it in smaller containers so I only have to melt the entire thing once! Would a heating pad do the job?

Melting point of palm oil is 93 degrees. Hot water should work, just make sure that the bucket can withstand the same temperature.

I cheated and got the Homogenized cube! No way did I want to melt a big pale. I get annoyed enough chopping the 25 lb MP bulk boxes into tiny chunks.


Do you have a neighbor with a hot tub? Could sneak into their back yard... I'd go with hot water in a deep sink or tub/bucket. Don't think a heating pad would be enough unless you had them wrapped around the sides too.

Heather, I used my canner to make a double boiler and stuck my whole 35 lb bucket inside it. The bucket withstood the heat just fine and all of my palm completely melted. I too went to the homogenzied palm so I wouldn't have to bother.

Hrm, maybe my giant double boiler will work! Maybe I'll email BB and ask what they recommend. I'd have to boil the water on the stove to fill my tub, darn hot water heater won't have enough hot water to completely fill it. Arg. I asked Santa for a new hot water heater and stove hehe, but I think I'm on his naughty list!
