I was at a two-day show this past weekend, and heard some really nice things from customers.
Lots of folks commented on how much they liked the way my soap smelled. Got several nice comments on my packaging, and on my display.
The best was my last customer of the day on Saturday, who said she'd been all over the show (big show - 108 vendors total), and that my soap smelled the best of all.
The next day, although the show started at 10:00, they opened the doors to the vendors at 9:00. A friend who makes jewelry and I do these shows together, and we decided to go over at 9:00 so we could see the other vendors.
I was astonished at what I saw from some of the other soapmakers. (None of those folks were around when my friend and I were making our rounds.) I saw tiny bars with little or no scent. I came across somebody who was selling soap that I can only describe as "chalky". My friend was outraged on my behalf. She uses, and loves my soap, and is always telling my customers how wonderful it is. (I tell people that I don't pay her to say any of that stuff.
) She said that nobody else's soap at that show could hold a candle to mine.
And another customer later in the day said pretty much the same thing.
Even though I know I make fine soap, it's still nice to hear these kinds of things.
I did talk to a vendor who was set up near me. She was upfront that what she made was melt-and-pour - her words were "I don't do the hard stuff like you do".
