Teach Soap

Well, on October 4th I placed an order with Bulk Apothocary. It was sizeable order: 2 gallons coconut oil, 2 gallons castor oil, 1 lb shea butter, 16 oz. argan oil, 8 lbs. palm oil, 8 lbs lye, palm kernel flakes (I forget how much offhand), and 8lbs. of lye.

I called about October 15th because it had not arrived. Apparently they charged my credit card but it never got shipped and it went out that day. It was supposed to arrive in two boxes weighing 48lbs. It was supposed to arrive Tuesday, October 23rd.

I got a shipment from Bulk Apothocary. It contained everything EXCEPT the lye and palm kernel flakes. Now I can't soap again until I can get some lye delivered.

I left a message for Bulk Apothocary because the delivery came after they closed for the day.

I finally reached them and found out that the lye was backordered, just restocked and it was shipping today and would now be delivered Monday or Tuesday next week. They have only started shipping lye in the past month and have had hasmet issues, which have now been resolved. Oh, and they're shipping the palm kernel flakes too.

Happy to hear you will f~i~n~a~l~l~y receive everything you ordered...a month later...how frustrating!

I have problems with vendors that don't tell you right up front that they are out of stock. It is not that difficult to update their web site to note this, or send you a quick email.

Ahh what a downer, Jilly! I hope the lye and pko arrive on time! They really should do something give you a discount or something for the delays.

Samm552 -- I still have NOT received the lye . . .

I was originally charged for the full order but they forgot to ship it.

Then, after the call, they shipped everything EXCEPT the lye because that was backordered.

They are shipping the lye today and I will finally have it next week.

Turns out they just got approval to start shipping lye when I ordered it.

They did give me 16 oz. of Apricot Kernel Oil for their mistake.

I guess next week I'll be soaping, soaping, and maybe soaping some more! (The only way I know to get 1500 bars of soap made).

Thanks for the sympathy. It's been a very frustrating week in many ways.

At least they gave you a nice gift for the trouble! That was very good of them!

Also... YAY SOAP!

Yes, that was very nice to receive the apricot kernel oil -- I am not sure what I'll be making with it . . . nothing until I get lye
But maybe God put the delay in because "Grandpa John" is in the hospital.

Well, Grandpa John's kidneys have improved, but the docs were out of town at a conference today, so he didn't get the procedure (heart catheter) done. That will be tomorrow now. It didn't hurt for him to have another day of kidney improvement before the operation. Thank you for your well wishes and please keep him in your thoughts.

I don't make salves or lotions, but I might use the apricot kernel oil in some bath bombs. We'll see. Not thinking too much about it at the moment.

Glad to hear Grandpa John is doing better! I hope his heart catheter procedure goes off without a hitch. Thinking of you and sending best wishes.

PS Apricot kernel oil is nice in soap too.

I'm thinking the apricot kernel oil will end up in soap if I ever get my lye.
