OMG, Look what happened while I was boiling my CO bag...



I now have a stock pot full of Coconut Oil water...

I am scared for life.. I don't think I will ever boil my Coconut oil again... I think next time I will just cut the top of the bag off and scoop out what I need.


I have two batches of Lye water cooling, and after this happened, I don't even think I can soap...

Thankfully my Palm Oil melted down fine.

If any of the plastic got into your coconut oil I would not soap it. Why were you boiling it? I would have just scopped out what I needed.

Is that one of the 7lb BB bags? I stick em in the microwave, takes about 2 minutes to melt a full bag.

I stick those bags in the microwave too, just make sure the lid is on tight first. I have put smaller containers of coconut oil down into a pot of warm water before too, just let them sit for a couple of minutes and they are good.

My coconut comes in a 7# tub and I just scoop it out.

I guess I'll try the microwave next time.

I wonder what temp the bags are rated up to? It does say microwaveable/boilable.

It is a baggy with a pour spout, have to melt each time or cut the bag.

Beezy, why don't you just get some plastic containers with lids and pour the melted CO into them? This way you wouldn't need to heat the whole bag each time.
