Anyone else had one of these done? They STUCK 25 wires on my head, wrapped my chest and belly with an elastic cord, stuffed things in my nose... then asked me to sleep. :? Needless to say when I got home I went right to bed and passed out LOL  I think I slept on and off for maybe 4 hours all night, trying not to tangle myself up in my cords. SOMEONE needs to figure out a better way to do these studies! And to top it all off... inconclusive results. So my husband has to just deal with me snoring! I'm going to snore extra loud for a few days, as revenge!

Haha! I couldn't sleep with all the stuff on me either if someone asked me to. Have you tried the nose strips or whatever?

LOL My husband has had 2 sleep study's done. They wanted him to wear a sleep apnea mask, but he returned it. He couldn't fall asleep with it on because it kept freaking him out.

I don't think I could sleep with one of those masks on either, I think they would make me panic! I hate things over my nose! I think the snoring is from my ginormous tonsils. I really need to get them looked at but am honestly sick of doctor's offices right now! They've been huge since the pneumonia, so I am sort of used to it now LOL  'Cept I choke on EVERY meal, that is the only really annoying part

Mine only bothers me because my husband keeps waking me up and getting me to roll onto my right side. I get SO sore constantly sleeping on that side! I don't make HIM move when he snores! He sounds like a gorilla. LOL

My husband can sleep just about anywhere and to prove it he slept through his sleep study. LOL Only they determined that he really wasnt sleeping all that well, he was moving an average of 70 times a minute to basically keep breathing (heck, I could have told them that). When he had his apnea machine, it was the best nights of sleep I have ever had in the 26 yrs we have been married. He called the mask his anti-romance mask. LOL

Seriously though, snoring and sleep apnea can be very detrimental to your health and especially your heart. Take care of yourself.

I've snored my entire life, but my husband is a light sleeper. So it is now becoming an issue. He needs ear plugs! Getting my tonsils looked at soon, couple Docs told me they need to come out. Hoping that is the root of the problem. They are pretty gigantic!

I have resorted to sleeping with ear plugs in, but after 5 or so nights in a row, my ears get tender and I cant use the plugs for a while. :(

I had one done in December last year. It wasn't the greatest night of sleep for sure because I just could not sleep - the bed was super uncomfy and IF I did fall asleep, I would just be awakened by the tech because I would keep knocking the wires on my legs off. They did get results though - definitely apnea HOWEVER I too also have some ginormous tonsils. I'm the only one of my siblings to not have these mutant tonsils removed....wish my doc would push more for that but unfortunately, my insurance provider seems to have more power and knowledge than my doctor does (heavy on the sarcasm).

I wasn't able to tolerate the cpap mask, the bipap was more comfortable. This was noted in the sleep study report, and so my doc prescribed the bipap.....BUT the insurance company declined the request, stating that the bipap was not medically necessary, and that they would allow only a cpap. Fortunately, the supplier somehow was able to overturn their decision and a bipap is on the way. It only took them close to 8 months to get it all worked out. I'm just hoping this thing arrives before I move next month.

So funny!

So apparently I snore, but I don't believe it. I think it's probably just allergies, they're really bad this time of year. :(

OMG. OMG. A sleep study in the US costs $7000!!!!!! That is ridiculous! And our insurance only covers $6000, so we got a bill for $1000 in the mail the other day. Of course the billing line is always busy or closed, so I can't even talk to them. We were told our insurance was 100% covered by the sleep clinic, apparently they were mistaken. Sooo who wants to buy a bar of my awesome soap for $1000? LOL   :x

So do you have any idea how much this would have cost in Canada? I do not think the cost is quite that expensive in this area of the country.... but still costly. Anyone want to talk health care reform now? Sometimes I am sad to say that I work in this industry, but when I started 39 years ago, health care was not a "buisness".

Its free in Canada. So are tests and doctors visits and most immunizations. The funny thing is that Canadian medial insurance is actually cheaper than it is in the US. And the taxes aren't all that much higher.

When I see the nurse practitioner for 10 minutes, to get a prescription fixed that she messed up in the first place, she gets $220. Beginning to think she is messing them up on purpose so she can get more money. :x 4 times now she has made mistakes.

I do miss the Canadian medical system, tired of randomly getting bills saying I owe for this medical test or that medical test. And we have really darn good insurance too, but they will only pay for tests that they deem associated with the medical issue; like x-rays for pneumonia, they paid for one, but the second to make sure my chest was clear they only paid part of, because it was "not necessary".

We spent a couple of days in Canda last year, and what you said is what everyone was telling me.
As for the mistakes from the NP.... I would be contacting the office manager and asking them to void 2 or 3 of those visits. If you gave her accurat information then she should be able to her part correctly.
