Teach Soap

First Independence Day BBQ tomorrow, so I've been busy as a bee today! I baked 24 mini cupcakes, boiled 5 pounds of potatoes (that I had to cube first), and boiled 2 boxes of pasta. Did the dishes. Made a couple MP soaps for my nephews. And now all I need to do is 2 loads of laundry and shave my legs LOL

Then I have to get up at around 8 tomorrow make frosting, frost and decorate the cupcakes. Make the dressing and finish the potato and pasta salad. Drag my poor husband out of bed (he gets home around 2 am), pop him in the shower, throw some clothes on him and be at his sisters' for 10.

Whats the chance I won't forget something? LOL

I've got BBQ beans made, will need to marinate the steaks and bake a cake. It's still too hot to turn the oven on.

50% chance of storms tomorrow, and my dog is Astraphobic (scared of thunder). If she is alone she may hurt herself. My sis-in-law doesn't want the dog there so I may have to stay home. This makes my sis-in-law very mad at me. Not sure what to do. Dog safety > BBQ in my opinion.

I'm not a vet, nor do I play one on TV, but a friend has had success with a homeopathic remedy called Rescue Remedy.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

I've tried everything, soaps upon soaps, DAP, and even a thundercoat. This is a VERY common problem with border collies. She will probably be put on prozac or something similar. The issue now is that she paces, cries, and shakes like crazy. If she is in her crate she panics. I worry she'll break her teeth on the gate or break her tail or legs flipping around.

No doggy day care will take a dog that is going to panic at the first sign of a storm.

Is it unreasonable of me to want to take her to the BBQ? They have a dog who she gets along with, they could both chill out in the garage. Shadow has been there a few times before.

I have a beagle that hates the 4th of July and storms as well! We give him St John's wort.... started when he had severe separation anxiety and it worked like a charm. He overcame that for the most part but now its the thunder and the fireworks. St John's helps him but just the same we are having family here so we can be with him. Maybe you could go just for the meal and come home before all the fireworks starts.

We have been, he does not get this frequently and the dose has been carefully calculated to his weight. We even had his lab values checked by the vet this last year... all good. And that was amazing given that being a beagle he will eat almost anything he finds....even bugs in the grass! Yuck

There shouldn't be fireworks near us where the BBQ will be. But there will be some near my house. A friend's astraphobic border collie ate its way out of its metal kennel and through a studded wall to get to their bedroom, where he ate their bed. Border collies with phobias rock Going to let my husband deal with it.

Frustrated me so badly that I messed up my toy embed MP soaps. Alcohol between the layers I kind of forgot it. The top layer peeled off when I unmolded, but they still look cool.
