On a Soap Queen video on how to make conditioner, she mentioned we should buy a mixture of distilled water and 5% bleach to sanitize all our equipment. I'm not making conditioner, I just found it in that video and would like to sanitize my equipment anyway. Anyone know which product is like this? Not Clorox right?

I sanitize before I make balms and the like, and use tap water plus bleach. I'm not sure why one would need distilled, assuming that local tap water is sanitary. Possibly if you're on a well, and there might be farm chemicals or something to worry about (but then, you have bigger problems...)

My tap water is hard water and has many metal ions. It also has an unpleasant smell and taste. I use distilled water for almost everything.

Thank you all for the responses! I have been in the process of moving so I'm sorry for such a delay. The tap water where I live is pretty bad. I don't notice it but apparently others have been getting sick and even dogs won't drink it so I better stick with distilled. JUST got back from the store :p.

Also do I have to sanitize my new Ball jars (lids haven't been taken off yet) to store my herbs/ infuse oils/ keep coffee grinds in (for soaps)?

I just took calendula out of a jar and want to put peppermint in can i just wipe out the jar and switch it I don't want to risk having any water in it.
