Teach Soap

As I've mentioned a few times, I'm moving to NJ and getting married. We are working out the plans now, and it seems that both will be happening in around 6 weeks! I'm so excited I feel like my skin is about to burst! Now I have to pack, and figure out what soaping supplies I can take across the border and what I am leaving here for Mom... who I am teaching soap making to! She LOVES the creativity behind it, and knowing exactly what is in the finished product. There's so much to plan and pack and go over. And I have to do it soon so the moving company can plan to take it all down there! Wow!! What a rush! This is my first big move in 20 years, and my first on my own, let alone to another country! I'm not really sure what to expect at the border, though I hear it will take a minimum of a couple of hours. Especially since I have to have my snake see a veterinary inspector in order to get her across the border, and I've still not heard from the USDA regarding my dog and 2 cats. I did find out that I can only take one snake as my big male isn't allowed in NJ due to his colouration. I also have to leave behind my parakeet and Zach. Zach is just too old and sick to drag him around the continent. I feel horrible leaving him behind, but my parents love him dearly and have promised to take good care of him.

A lot to think about for sure! Going to be super busy but will still find SOME time for soaping!!!

I'm sooo excited for you!!!! I hope everything goes well for your animals. Even moving from Florida to Tennesee I had to find a home for one of my parrots because it was illegal in TN.

Congrats on your upcoming marriage and move, Heather! It's cool that you've got your mom hooked on soapmaking - she'll be able to make good use of the stuff you don't take with you. I know it will be hard to leave some of your animal friends behind, but I'm glad that they have someone to take good care of them. Best wishes to you on your new adventure!

Thanks guys! I'm super excited! A little nervous about the animals and the border, and all the packing, but not too bad. Mostly I just can't wait to see Ralph! Its been a year!!!

I moved to Canada from Tennessee 6 years ago - and it was a bigger change than I ever imagined!
Just curious tho - why can't you bring your parakeet? I have an African Grey, and he came with me, with no problems.

How exciting for you! Congratulations and have a safe journey. I hope your bird can be allowed in.

Oh my gosh Heather packing, take just what you love! It is a wonderful time to consolidate and get rid of things good enough for to give to charity! I am so glad you are teaching your mom to soap! She is going to miss you a great deal! Well unless she had 6 more children in the wings!

Kat, I can't take my bird because my future father in law lives with us and he threw a tantrum about it. He doesn't like birds! She'll be happy here with my parents.

My fiance got the marriage appointment all set up, I arrive in NJ April 6 and we get married April 12! My Mom's birthday!

Oh I wish!! We call him our giant 5 year old LOL. I figure once we have a crying loud noisy baby he'll run away screaming!
