Teach Soap

I read that SoapMaker can be used on a Mac with an extra download of some sort. Does anyone successfully use this program on their Mac?

That's a new one on me. I would email them and ask. I'm on a MAC right now and it won't work here, but it will work on my PC at home.

I just looked at the soapmaker software site and it looks like what you need to have is a program that will allow your mac to run windows applications. They list several that will do this. I don't use a mac so I don't know how well they'll work. You can probably google reviews for each product to determine which would work best for you.

And maybe someone can add their 2 cents who uses the windows app. software in conjunction with SoapMaker 3 on your Mac?

I tend to disappear for a while but I'm back poking around again.

In order to get Windows-based software to run on a Mac you will need to install Windows in Paralell or using Boot Camp. Either way you need to own a copy of Windows in order to enter the license number.

If you were looking at Boot Camp (which lets you have both Windows and OSX on your Mac, and chose which to start) Then you will need to have Mac OSX 10.7 in order to use Windows 7. Older versions of Windows (XP and Vista) can be run on older OSX like 10.5

So you're looking at $190 for a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium from amazon.com. Then again $450 buys you a brand new Dell.

So while yes it is possible, but isn't cheap. I actually just installed Boot Camp on someone's 2 year old Mac so they could run a special program. Boot Camp installed fine, windows installed fine. No drivers for the hardware installed. I found some drivers and the only one that worked was audio. This means he has sound but no wired internet connection, no wireless, no special touchpad functions, some keyboard buttons don't work, the screen resolution is wrong, the bluetooth doesn't work, the camera doesn't work. Only solution is to install the drivers from his OSX disk he lost, so Apple will charge him for a new one. Luckily he doesn't need anything to work for his program, just windows. But he was less than happy.

Short version, get a cheap laptop on sale from a big box store and use it for work only.
