Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I live in the North Island far from the earthquake but all NZer's feel the grief and also the helplessness of not being able to do anything.

Christchurch suffered a 7.1 earthquake in Sept 2010 which struck early in the morning while most were asleep and although there was a lot of damage, thankfully no fatalities. Yesterday’s quake although smaller in magnitude very shallow and struck during lunchtime. The death toll is currently 65 but this is likely to rise. It’s heartbreaking to follow this story, but some wonderful rescue stories are emerging this morning.
