Teach Soap

Hey there. New tot he forum. But I needed to ask this.

I ordered my CP soap kit from bramble berry. And I LOVE their site. Anne-Marie has so much useful information and I thought I should support the company.

My only problem is the Duty fees and shipping when coming across boarders. It becomes a bit expensive. So I was wondering if anyone here might know some good Canadian suppliers for CP supplies.

I'm in Vancouver, so YMMV but...

Cranberry Lane is pretty good. I've been to their store in Poco, and while it was a wee bit limited (I imagine their warehouse in Richmond would have more), there was lots to play around with: http://www.cranberrylane.com/

They're in Cloverdale, and their warehouse is divine. Absolutely love them. I'm in Vancouver and can't always make it out to Cloverdale during their hours, but their mail order is wonderfully fast too. I don't think I've ever waited more than two days to get it, which is nice.

I go there more for their candle supplies, but their M&P kits are actually what got me started in making soap, so I'll always have a soft spot for them. No CP supplies, M&P only, and fairly limited (they are, after all, a candle making supply store primarily) but for a Vancouverite, it's slightly more convenient for me if I'm right out of M&P base and need more right. now.

If you're looking for lye, hit up Home Hardware in the plumbing section. They're one of the very few hardware stores that still sells 100% sodium hydroxide.

When I lived in the Bellingham, I was surprised by how many of my Canadian customers who lived in the Vancouver/Surrey/Richmond areas had PO Boxes in the United States (Blaine/Lynden area). They did this b/c they saved so much on shipping. They would simply have their orders sent to their PO Boxes, drive over the border and pick up their items. Not sure if this would help but it maybe something you can look into. Good luck!

Where are you in Canada? there is a bunch around I know when I was looking I did a lot of google searches with" soap supplies in canada" and I had a list in no time.

FYI - I placed an order from www.newdirectionsaromatics.ca and I was very please with the products, the service, and the packaging for shipping. I adore Bramble Berry, but since I'm in Canada, it takes so long for me to get my order, and I have to pay duties/taxes on my parcel when it gets here (yuck).... to boot, lots of fragrances can't be shipped from the US to Canada.

The colorants at Bramble Berry are fantastic. I will continue to order my colors there no matter what!!
