So, I recently put in an order to a fragrance site for some different colored micas. The ones I ordered were red, violet, and silver. Pictured was a bright red, a bright purple, and a metalic silver. But when I got them and opened up the containers, they were all various shades of white. It appears the 'colors' are just the type of opalescence. They say the micas are stable in CP, and I was wondering if maybe they turn darker actually in the soap? Maybe the liquid activates a richer color? Thoughts? Cuz otherwise a company is going to get a /really/ pissed phone call about false advertising.

Here is one way to find out. Make a very small amount of a lye dilution. Add a pinch of the mica into it. Gently mix. Does it give you a color? If not, then I would say it's just creative advertising. Maybe it only works in MP? If you have any MP, you could try a pinch in some clear and see if it gives you any color.
