Teach Soap

I current use a two printer system for my cigar labels. I run the paper first through my color ink jet printer for the logo or pic I want on the front of the label. I then run it through my laser jet. The wording is well defined and fairly permanent and the color pops. My problem is some of my clients are places where employees have wet or damp hands and the ink jet part will smear or even run.
The new color laser jets are coming out with the same dpi as black and white laser jets at 1200 dpi. So I am exploring upgrading to either a color laser or even a wax printer.
What experiences have you had printing your own labels. Any knowledge/insight to share?

I use a Konica Minolta laser printer. The only thing it doesn't do well is vellum.

Well as we had limited funds on starting out we have a Dymo LabelWriter 450 Duo. I like it - you only have to buy labels and no ink so that's a saving. But the downfall is no colour so we're currently saving for a nice colour printer and then I can have lots of fun with colour!

I use 3 different printers and have them all hooked up to one computer. I have an HP inkjet with a scanner, a Brother BW laser, and a Samsung color laser. They all do different things better than the other 2 so I use them all the time. A laser will help with the ink running. Mine do not work well on Parchment paper, for that I go with the inkjet. For those of you wondering "why keep the bw laser?" the reason is it prints fancy fonts nicer than the Samsung.

Thank you so much for your input. I thought I was crazy using two printers to accomplish what I want. I am currious about the new 1200 dpi color lasers but as of right now, I do not know any one with one to see a printed sample. I am in a smaller community and the office supply store does not have one on the shelf for me to see a sample either.
I will keep up my vigil.
