Teach Soap

Hello all!

I received the BEST xmas gift this year - a little Italian Greyhound puppy! I named him Oliver. Yesterday, I went searching for a natural and mild puppy shampoo and found a product called "Tropiclean." The ingredients are: Water, Organic Aloe leaf extract, Oatmeal, Vitamin E and Mild Coconut Cleanser. Their label claims the product is "soap free" and hypo-allergenic. What the heck is coconut cleanser? I see the word cleanser and I think soap. Also, what makes a product hypo-allergenic?

Anyone else get a puppy?

Congrats on your puppy! From what you wrote, it sounds like a synthetic detergent. That's actually ok, since the PH of their skin is much different than ours. A chemical surfactant is less likely to cause an irritation in animals. As far as hypo-allergenic it's just a buzz word. Anyone can become allergic to just about anything.
