This is probably the oddest question you've been asked on here...enjoy LOL:) A lot of people in my family are experiencing irritation from chemical brands of lubricant on the market, and asked me if I could make something to use that was edible as well. I did a lot of research, and realized I could. However, (as usually happens lol) there's a problem. I bought 100% edible vegetable glycerin, and learned in research that it should be mixed 50/50 with water. Did that, added a couple drops of food coloring and some candy flavoring oil and packaged it up. Next up was 6 months of testing....and the common consensus is that it works awesome, but is too runny due to the water.

After even MORE research...I'm a persistant little bugger lol...I decided to use xanathan gum to thicken it, since its edible, unflavored, doesn't dissolve latex, and would help thicken the product up. However, I have NO idea how to use it. Do I just add a little mix, stir like hell, and wait and see? Or has someone ever used this before who could give me some sort of "guideline" as to the amounts to make it a little thicker, but not a gel?

Thanks for ANY help ya'll can give...I know it's a weird one! lol

I haven't used Xantham gum, but since you are adding water, you would need some type of a preservative. I have made one like this.

2 Tbs vegetable glycerin
1 Tbs cocoa powder
1 Tbs melted cocoa butter
1/2 tsp Triple-Fold Vanilla Flavor

soapbuddy...I'm convinced you live here LOL:) I believe I have some water safe preservatives...I'll have to look and see if any of them are food safe. I guess I'm just going to do the "itty bitty bit" at a time and see what happens lol. One thing to remember for anyone interested in this....if you use food coloring as a colorant, a drop or two goes a LONG way. I used a bit more because I was making 6 cups of it for samples, and it stained anything white a brillant orange lol.
