I'm going to start selling my lip balm at a local shop :D and am not sure how to price it. Each balm costs me about $.56 to make and are packaged in the standard .15 oz twirl-up containers. The store is in a bit of a touristy area near the beach in San Diego. I was thinking $2.50. What is an appropriate percentage for the store to keep? Is it better to sell them directly to the shop and let them resell or sell them on consignment? I appreciate any input or suggestions! Thank you!!

Are they selling any lip balms now? Any other stores in the area that sell them?
It is better to sell them directly as they now have a vested interest to sell them.
If it's a consignment, your product could end up in the back of the store and might not sell.
For my area, $2.50 would be too cheap. How much were you thinking of selling them wholesale?

Did you add in salary for yourself? If this really takes off for you then you are going to want to be paid! You won't want to suddenly have to raise your prices later.... :D

Thanks for the feedback! It's actually a water store- they have a big fancy filtration system and sell by the gallon. Alot of people stop in on their way to the beach, so the owner decided to start selling sun screen and lotions, etc. Mine will be the first lip balm and soaps. There are no other shops selling the same items nearby. If I do sell directly to the store what is an appropriate amount for me to sell them to her for? Can I ask her how much she'll sell them to the public for before she and I decide how much she pays me for them? Thanks for your help!
