Teach Soap

For a vendor spot at a High School Craft Show? I came across one and they want $100 for a spot. That seems high to me for a high school craft show. Granted it is a big high school in a well to do city but I the last show I did in that city, I barely made over $100. What do you think? Would you pay it and risk taking the loss just to get your name out there?

I don't know how many vendors will be there but this is their 5th year doing it and on event lister.com, they posted that they expect between 500-1,000 visitors. It is a fundraiser for the choir but it seems to me that they get all of their money from the vendor fee. There is no admission charge for the visitors.

If they expect 500-1,000 visitors then to me the fee is too high. I don't know your area though.

I think it is high too. Frisco, TX is a pretty affluent area but it just seems like I would spend more in being a vendor than I would make in sales. I think I will not go for that one.

Yeah, Um...it's kind of like showing up for a state dinner and being charged $100 a plate for a $20 meal. You *know* it's overpriced, but you're "donating" to a worthy cause. Supporting your local community. If you feel like it will get your name out there, write it off in your expenses. DH is a teacher, and his kids parents are all corporate types...never know when the patrons will remember you as "Hey...that soap lady....what great Christmas gifts!" kwim?

It's way high, but because it's a fundraiser for the choir, that explains it.

Also not very good attendance expectations. If you care to 'donate' the $100 and get a bit of exposure...go for it.

Personally, I would only do it if it were for one of my own children or grandchildren attending the school.

While I may not know much about the business side of soap making, I can certainly tell you that supporting your choir goes a long way.

Thanks! I am gonna need it it. I have two weeks to make sure everything is done, labeled, etc... I have this coming week, then off to Cali for a week and then one week after to get it all done. I am not sure how it's gonna work, but it will work.
