The reason I put "hate" with a question mark is because I don't totally think hate is the right word. My boyfriend has a public image on the internet and social media because he works from home with live streaming and other such content. Like everyone that's ever been online hes gotten some disapproving and pretty hateful people. Naturally I inherited a large portion of that group by association.
So my business is almost set to go (getting the last supplies ordered and getting the insurance) and I created several social media accounts for my own marketing & publicity. I knew they'd eventually discover these accounts and one or two people have been respectful enough to treat it like a business but not everyone is taking the hint. I'm not even bothering to get into twitter fights, I'm just answer their obviously trolling questions and then blocking. Low and behold someone makes a mock up of my twitter account in an attempt to discredit me. I'm thinking about taking this to a lawyer but I'm not sure yet. This account clearly knows and dislikes me but that's not my only trouble. You have the groups of kids posting false "claims" about my yet to open Etsy shop and attempting to flag my accounts.
It's frustrating but I also knew this day would come. Most social media sites have been fast in dealing with them but I'm still thinking about involving a lawyer for defamation or impersonation. Has anyone had these kind of dealings? I'd hate to get a lawyer but I also can't afford to have my business dragged through the mud. :/
