Teach Soap

Have been trying to figure out where/how to start this for over a year. Every government place I call/email gives me a different (usually contradictory) story. I've been able to come up with a grand total of.. nothing.

Here is what I need to do, and have no idea where to start, or where to go to start...
-Register LLC
-Register name
-Procure insurance

I tried to register the name and LLC with the township, but need proof of insurance to do so. But I need the two registered to get insurance from RLI.

This is the whirlwind I've been stuck in for over a year. I've called/emailed both, and just keep getting the same information, which would make starting a business impossible, which it clearly isn't. ARG.

Have you looked at SBA.gov? I got a lot of my info on starting a small business from there, but I didn't do the LLC. Here's a page with a link to licenses and permits by state: http://www.sba.gov/category/navigation- ... -licenses-

It looks like this is the site to set up your LLC:

This is the site that gives information on that process:

Once you get the state one, then you can go with the city one - or at least, that's the way it works in Washington state.

I haven't ever heard of having to show insurance to get a business license but you don't need to have a registered business to buy insurance through the Indie Beauty Network. http://www.indiebeautynetwork.com/chann ... urance.asp

You'll get your city license at the city office - generally where all the government offices are for your city. I think you might be close to Chesterfield but I'm not sure. If you are, I think this might be your office http://www.chesterfieldtwp.com/index.html

I hope this helps. It's definitely a hassle to get set up but once you do it, and do it right, you won't have to worry about anything but renewing your license ever year or few years.
