I didnt mean the items themselves. Just the majority of people being female, everyone referring to women customers etc.

The other Soapmakers in my area one store is a woman and a man as partners, the other sells at our local fair and they are both men.

David, it could be that soaping has fallen in the "craft" category. You're kind of a novelty, if I may. Like male quilters. Me? Meh...I don't think of it as male or female...my brother was here a couple months ago and I gave him some of my curing soap, making him promise not to use it until XX date. He was good (I think) and used it when it was done, and now? He's hooked. He's in the read-everything-I-possibly-can phase...and is considering making it.

...oh, and as for the backstabbing thing? I haven't really experienced that...but folks are VERY protective of what goes in their recipes. I totally get that...they've put in the legwork to get a blend they love. I wouldn't want to spend months or years of work to have someone swipe it and market it without the least bit of effort. I will, however tell on myself and all the mistakes I've made.
