Cocoa butter

I bought a lb of cocoa butter recently. When I opened the jar to use it, it was rock hard. I literally had to chisel out what I wanted. Is it supposed to be like that or did I get a bum batch?

It's supposed to be hard. It will melt down just like the rest though. I order mine from BB, and they pack it in plastic, so I use my soap cutter (like this one: http://www.brambleberry.com/Scrapercutt ... P3793.aspx) to cut it down for the amount I need. Much easier on the hands than trying to scoop it with a spoon. However, I saw that yours is in a jar, so I would use a fork to break the pieces. Hope that helps.

Notation about above: I haven't bought cocoa butter in a long while, so maybe the packaging is different from how they wrap the shea, avocado, or mango butters? Sorry, just thought about that....

Cocoa butter is normally hard as a rock. If you put it in the freezer for a while, it's easier to chisel pieces off.

Ok thanks ya'll. I didn't get mine from BB, so it came in a jar. I used a spoon to get it out and it was such a pain. I contemplated just microwaving the jar, but decided it wasn't such a good idea for multiple reasons.
