My 4 month old son has REALLY dry skin patches under his hair on the back/crown portion of his head. He has eczema in several spots on his face, so I am sure this is probably part of it too.

We use cortizone cream from the Dr on his face and make sure he has the humidifier on in his room at night and that seems to help his face, not so much for under his hair. Asked the Dr about this and he suggested maybe some baby oil rubbed on it.

What about using an EO? I was thinking maybe Neem oil since a lot of references say it is a good use for eczema and can be an ingredient in shampoos. Would it be safe for use on a baby? Any other recommendations?

As always, thanks in advance for any and all help!

I would not use ANY EO's or neem oil for a 4 month old baby. Try plain olive or jojoba oil.

Sounds like cradle cap. Both my boys had it. Don't use EO's on a baby. The olive oil should work fine although it may be kind of thick so you'll have to rinse well. You don't need much either. You just want to soften it a bit and then it will flake off. Put it on, leave it on for a bit (like for the rest of the bath), brush his hair VERY gently with a super soft baby brush in a circular motion to loosen the crusties, then rinse. Just do it once a day at bathtime. It should clear up pretty quick. It's terribly common for babies and it may occur more than once. My boys were always getting rashes when they were little. Try not to worry too much.

I thought cradle cap was the over production of oil glands???? He has that too but on the front portion of his scalp. My other 3 kids all had what he has in the front, so that's not new to me. This super dry crusty spot is completely new to me.
