hi Everyone!

hope everyone is doing well.

i need to find a thick liquid similar to liquid soap that does not foam/have suds. i'm also shying away form glycerin because of it's humectant qualities.

anyone have any ideas on a thick liquid i could use?

TIA

You mean like a concentrated 100% olive oil liquid soap?

Sulphonated red castor oil is a thick liquid that does not foam. What do you need a thick liquid for?

lecithin is thick and non-sudsy, but it really depends what you are needing/wanting it for.

i'm trying to make something similar to jelly soap without the soap part. it also has to melt in the shower.

jelly soap without the soap......hmmmmm......why? Lol Since I am not really sure what you are trying to accomplish, I may be wrong, but I am thinking you could thicken with gar gum or, depending upon your other ingredients, stearic acid or maybe even the lecithin.

ok. i want to make a fragrant shower disk that melts in the shower but will not make a person slip and fall. since this will not be used on the body, i don't want to use expensive oils and such. though, i would like for it to be environmentally friendly.

this is what i be putting together:

clear liquid (thick liquid) soap substitute
water
preservative
color
scent
gelatine

it's essentially a jelly soap recipe, but.. i don't want it to be soap which is why i need the thick liquid instead of the liquid soap.

i'm sorry if i'm coming across so cryptic. i just don't know how else to articulate this..

thanks again everyone.

I am not really sure what to recommend. This formulation is one of trial and error and I am afraid there is no getting around that. Least not with my help. It sounds cool though and I wish you luck! Maybe someone else can help more.

However, you could do a shower tab that is all you said, with bath fizzy ingredients. I do one for the shower that I call "Just Breathe" because it is quite fragrant. I make it larger than a bath bomb and a different shape, it doesn't fizz away as fast as a bath bomb either, but it is essentially the same.

That's my thought as well Tammy. Make a bath fizzy and use it on the bottom of the shower.

You can get what you need by using a carbomer, say Ultrez-20. About 1% or less should do. You need to neutralise it with sodium hydroxide to make it thicken.
- Thinking about it you could experiment with hair gel, which uses carbomer. To make it thin again add sufficient citric acid; mix in whatever you want then neutralise again to thicken it.
