After about half a dozen attempts starting out really bad, I finally got a wonderful texture and feel for a lip balm, so I made about a dozen tubes for me, my sis, and our mom.

I didn't like the plain white tubes since they were boring, so I made up some colourful labels and got a pack of Avery full sheet labels to print them on then just cut them out and stuck them on the tubes.

But they won't stick, they keep trying to peel off.

Any suggestions on a good label to use that has a really strong adhesive so it won't come off on its own?

I use waterproof labels that are perforated at the top so the cap can twist off. Another thing you can do instead is to get the shrink bands for lip balm tubes. The are some that peel completely off and others that are perforated at the cap. The bands that are perforated at the cap will leave the rest of the band in place over your label so it won't come off. The bands are inexpensive and you can use a hair dryer to shrink them.

Hm, I like the idea of waterproof labels so they don't smudge from wet hands. Do they stay on good?

If you wipe the plastic with rubbing alcohol before applying, the labels will often stick better.

I like to make my own lotions, balms, and salves but I found that the labels would smudge or wear off when I use them. I hated the idea of having to go buy new labels and waste the huge pack I already had, so I applied some clear 2" packing tape over my labels once they are on the bottle/tube. If you put the tape so it goes all the way around and slightly overlaps itself it holds the labels on even if they get wet/oily. It works for now, and gives the labels a shiny appearance. Next time I'm going to try to water proof labels.

I purchase my label sheets from onlinelabels.com. I buy the full sheets (just the "standard white matte" they offer different varieties as well) and then I use their label designer program on their website which is free to use as long as you order from them and then cut them out myself. The plain label sheets are very, very cheap. I just bought 250 sheets for $25 plus like $5 shipping. Here is the link. http://www.onlinelabels.com/OL175.htm They stick pretty well. I do have a problem with the ends peeling back on my lip balm tubes so I started buying these shrink bands where only the shrink band on the cap comes off and the rest of the shrink band stays on. http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/Shri ... r-537.html

They keep the labels looking nice.

I use labels that I buy in bulk, but have used the avery ones when I needed some in a hurry. I thought that they worked just fine, but I also shrink wrap my tubes (with a perforated wrap), so that could be why I never noticed an issue.

Hm, thanks for the ideas guys.
For right now I put clear tape around them to hold the labels on, but I like the shrink bands.
I'll have to try them out, would like to find a good way to do it when I eventually get to where I can sell them.
