I don't have a FB page up yet for my soap because I'm not selling yet but I'll follow yours.

Thanks for the "likes". For every free sample we give out we ask that people "like" us on Facebook. Works great at Farmers Markets as most will "like" us immediately on their cell phones. We cut up soap ends into chunks and call it "Likes for Lumps".

What a great idea! Do you wrap the free samples or just put them all into a basket or something?

lotusfairy: We put them in a basket naked and have penny paper bags next to it with tags stapled to the bags with our Like Us on Facebook info. I think if you go on our Facebook there is an album of Farmers Market pics, where you can see the baskets. Facebook is our main form of advertising.

At our store, we offer free mini cupcakes for likes on facebook. They are made from any left over soap frosting. The farmers markets r just to crazy busy to offer the mini cupcakes so we just cut up soap ends.

Thanks for the inspiration. Until now, I didn't think it was possible to be that successful in this business. I figured maybe I could just bring extra couple of thousand into the household, but you have proven me wrong. I hope I will at least be half as successful as you someday.

It is easier to get more likes if you have an actual store. Just as long as you know that you make a safe soap, have a solid recipe that been tested and you know how it will behave 6 months (or more) down the road, have all the paperwork in place then you can figure out if you are ready to sell or not. 3 or 6 batches under your belt is not enough to start selling.
