Not quite done yet. Unfortunately we're both sick with a nasty cold, so we haven't gotten in there to finish things up yet. Soon I hope!!

How are you and hubby feeling? Can't wait to see more pics! So far, it seems lovely.

If your dead space is a corner like I thought you said, you can get a "buffet" folding table that should fit there. The one's I have are adjustable in height, 4' long, and just under 24" wide. You can also get a "table top" from the lumber section of Home Depot cut to the correct size you need and put brackets under it to attach to the wall or counter OR put legs on it.

Be well!

I have read this post from the beginning and am looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I am so happy for you! My soaping space is going to go from a 4 foot long counter and some storage space to an 8'x8' "half room" soon. My husband wants his kitchen back

The best thing I invested in for my soaping area was a bun rack from the web restaurant store. It holds 40 half sheet pans (which I own). Each pan holds one batch of my soap! It's pretty good for curing. I learned that you don't close the plastic cover or the soaps will sweat. This bun rack helps with space. It's on wheels and only takes a 2 'x 3' space. The other best thing I invested in was a compact fabric steamer by Rival. Removes ash quickly with only needing a wipe off!

Update! Guess I never posted on the thread about our electrical issues. For months I've had no power in the two receptacles at my work bench. We had a couple of electricians come out to fix some issues with the power in our "Geek Cave" and bedroom (both in the basement) and in doing so they cut off the power for my main receptacles in my workshop! We had a THIRD electrician to the house, and he fixed the problem within 40 minutes, and charged us NOTHING! Turns out the problem had been my 2 receptacles the entire time! DOH! They are safety switches with built in mini breakers (the kind you use in areas near water), apparently they were never wired correctly. You had to do a specific pattern of resets to get them to work as there were wired to work in a chain rather than individually. This is also why the !@#$@#%@ kept zapping me when we had them working (had a couple of numb arm days from them)!

The new guy fixed me up quickly! Now I can get rid of the huge 18lb monster industrial extension cord that has been causing me oh so many issues; pulled over my stick blender in its water cup a couple of times, pulled my notebook compy off the table a few times, and lets face it... who wants a big ole orange nasty extension cord in their workshop???

Now I have power back and am all ready for soapy lessons next week!

The next fix: some of the flooring not sticking to whatever the heck linoleum adhesive they'd used for the previous floor. Even though we added supposed super adhesive to the backs of the floor tiles before laying them.. thinking of trying liquid nails!

Left to do: change out those sockets, finish the back splash (still ugh), cap the ends of the counters (need to buy a rasp and an iron but am too cheap and keep trying to find them at goodwill), fix the floor, add some new pot lights (with the good electrician LOL), add the pulls to the cabinetry, install one blind, finish the baseboards (hubby swears he'll get to it, been waiting a year :P), buy and install an AC unit, and get a mini fridge. Stupid list! Never seems to get any shorter!

Should I do a video of the workshop so far? Was hoping for a "big reveal", but was also hoping for it to happen last year. :|

I just read though this all today too. You've put a lot of work in! I really love the tile you put down. I bet it will be so gratifying when you officially call it finished. :D

Hestey,
I haven't been around for awhile because I FINALLY sold the house and had 9 days to pack, find a rental and move the week before Thanksgiving. Then a show Thanksgiving weekend that was not good. Then the holidays. Oh and 4 shows (2 at the same venue which were horrible and I won't go back). In between all that was work.

For your air conditioning unit, if it is just for your workshop, you might seriously want to consider going to Home Depot or Lowe's for a unit that does not go in the windoow. It is a room cooler. They are a bit more expensive, but they run quietly and seem to work really well. It's a thought.

I'm doing another show in mid-March at the good venue. It'll be a 3-day show, so we'll see how it goes. Happy New Year to everyone.

Jill

sounds like some of our projects. I have paint for the upstairs bathroom I purchased 15 years ago! But of course now I don't even want that color! Too much work, too many hobbies and just getting old.... those are my excuses.

I am glad you found an electrician that knew what he was doing! :) When it does get finished I look forward to seeing the end results.
