Well the beds are finished and filled and my kids helped me plant the starter seeds yesterday afternoon. Yeah that's the part they wanted to help with, not the shoveling dirt and wheelbarrow work! They helped do about two loads and then went back to turning the patio loungers into landspeeders again. (Star Wars is the current obsession in our house) BOYS! Oh well they are young still, plenty of time before I get 'em earning their keep. I'm gonna have to spend some time in the house for the next few days though because I can barely move...So I'm thinking recovery will have to include some soap time. :D I'm sure all that shoveling and moving dirt from the driveway to the way back must be like 40 Weight Watchers Activity points at least!

Thank you all for such great suggestions. I think I will look for the Helichrysum as I haven't seen it anywhere before and that would be great to have. Chamomile and Echinacea, Golden Seal and St. John's Wart are all on the list too. Grow little seeds grow....

Wildchick, I used to HATE garden chores when I was a kid. My Mom had two HUGE gardens, enough to feed an army and can enough for world domination. I had to be there at sun up every morning and stay until all the days work was done before I could go and do my thing. So I complained from sunup until I could ride my horse or motorcycle off and not come home til dinner, where I'd complain some more because there were after dinner chores too. That routine took most of my youth and put many gray hairs on Mom's head. Imagine her shock when I grew up and started my first garden! I think she went white haired then! Lol Suddenly I didn't even mind the hot days of weeding.....well, too much.
Who knows, maybe your boys will grow up to want to garden too. And if not, hey you have a few years to work them like dogs! I hope you heal fast and well, and I hope your garden grows great!

Linda, I have my tomato in the house for now, but my neighbor has their garden about finished. Of course it is supposed to get cold here again next week, so we will see!

Dave, thanks for the laugh. I so could see that deer! I don't know how we ever had a garden when I was young, cuz we lived smack dab in the middle of a valley populated with deer, yet we never seemed to loose anything. Believe me, I used to pray for that! Lol Of course they may have spread the word that we also ate their relatives....... :o
At my other house I had two gardens, but I had a harder time with cat intruders using dirt and mulch for a litter box than I did dear. Although I had to wrap my pear tree to keep them from tearing the trunk during rut, they rarely came over the fences. Oh, and I fixed the cats finally, I poured a ton of red pepper all around. Seems they don't like the taste of that!
Good luck with your garden this season!
