Houdini loved pizza, so we had the Houdini Memorial Pizza Dinner last night - since we had not eaten in a day or so. On more than one occassion, I caught Houdini with the crust of a wedge of pizza in his mouth, ready to yank it off my plate, that's how bad he wanted pizza.

Its always helpful to know there are so many animal lovers out there having gone through the same thing. Thanks again for taking the time to post your sympathies.

Not sure I should admit to this, but it's almost sacrilege in our house to eat all your pizza crust! Our frenchies love pizza crust so they get very excited when we have pizza. I'm glad you had a nice way to remember Mr. Kitty.

I'm so sorry, April. I was just holding my fatty, mcfat cat, Charlie, the other day and thinking how sad I will be when he passes. He s only 7 so I still have some time with him. I hate losing pets. It's always very sad. I'm sure he is in kitty heaven surrounded by catnip and jingle balls looking down over you.

I'm so sorry about Houdini. Putting down my Ms. Stubbs several years ago was the hardest thing I've ever done.

Oh wow April, I had forgotten your cats name. My own Houdini died last Friday after a dental. I'm still a mess over it and she was semi-feral.

Thanks April. This is the 3rd since April 2011 (my youngest is almost 13). I still look for Houdini in her spots, all of her dental paperwork is still on the counter, I just can't bear to look at it right now. I'm dealing with a lot of guilt over what happened. It always amazes me how much light they can bring to your day. As much as it hurts to lose them, I can't imagine a life without at least one. My youngest is my baby and my bf knows I will be a complete wreck when she goes.

My exh's was a Maine Coon, and he was the one I lost almost exactly 2 years ago. He was diabetic and my ex left him with me when he moved out - then got 2 new kittens! I thought that was awful of him. Houdini absolutely loved him, and spent over a year looking for him in the cat bed in my office after he died. It does give me comfort to know she's been reunited with her best friend!

I acted only in her best interests, but unfortunately we didn't know she had a heart condition. Lots of variables with this and it will take me awhile to get past it.

You are right, we make the best decisions we can with the info we have. Unfortunately they can't talk much so we have to guess sometimes. It sucks!
