Teach Soap

GAH!!!!! Why do people on youtube insist things like vitamin e, grape seed extract and tea tree oil are preservatives?!?!?!?! "Because it has so many preservatives this conditioner will last months!" 3 weeks later "I reformulated my recipe because it went bad last time" then they make the same mistake all over again. Trying to find a GOOD conditioner or lotion video on youtube is hard! Most are mayonnaise and avocado based ones... or pure shea butter. Not sure I'd want to condition with pure shea myself! When I do find one 1/2 the time they use antioxidants as preservatives, and tell everyone who sees the video that they are preservatives. You know how many comments I have posted saying "Use a REAL preservative!" ARG.

Stacey, I touch my soap with my hands. I cut it with the Tank. That's ok.

The other thing I hear a lot is that gelling reduces the cure time. That one truly scares me.

In complete agreement with everything here! It's scary how much stuff has 'natural preservatives' that are only antioxidants

Also the number of people that say 'great so you can make your own stuff & not bother with preservatives!' Umm, NO!!! Aye aye aye, education never stops!

PS I touch my soap with bare, clean hands all the time. Good luck to any 'bug' that survives soap (I know some can)

I'm referring to those that just gel it in the oven, not cook it. I think that's where the confusion comes from.

It's a worry though when gelled soap is apparently safe to use 'as soon as you've cut it'
