Teach Soap

Hi everyone!
I have a few questions on labeling soaps and I was hoping someone could explain it to me as I were a three year old (sorry I'm a bit slow this morning).

I am making a hang tag label for some soap samples I am going to hand out. I wanted to know what has to be listed on my label?

Weight has to be on there. The word SOAP has to be on there. Your name and address & phone number have to be on there.

If it's soap, your ingredients should be on there. (Any other product has to have ingredients.) your web address should be on there.
There is a good book by Marie Gale of the Handmade Soapmaker's Guild that has all the rules of labeling all of your products in an easy to understand format. I think A-M has it for sale on the BB website.

Not if you say it's just "Soap" or Handmade Soap.

I put everything on my labels as well, because I like to know these things when I buy something. But that part is up to you.

Can you claim "cruellty free" even if you use friends and family as guinea pigs?

Address and telephone number?! Yikes, I don't know if I want all of my customers to have my address. Is that a requirement? Telephone number, email addy I can def. do... but I guess I'm a little leary of handing out my address.

Does anyone know?

If you have a listing in the phone book under your Business name, you only need to put your Zip Code. If you don't, you're supposed to put your address and phone number. Some people get a Box at a business center to avoid putting personal info. out there.
