Ocean State Job Lot had 12 qt stainless steel stock pots on sale for $12. It's super thin though! Made in India. If it didn't say stainless on it I never would have guessed, I am so used to my good Farberware.

I have a crockpot that is 3.5 qt

I have a couple of bigger plastic containers, and I used one for my first batch of CP

I also had found a used wok for $5 which is pretty big but like all of them are shallow and I'm not 100% sure what it's made of.

So is this SS pot worth it considering what I have? How about the size - they had 8, 10 and 12. Actually I may have bought a 16 qt! I did my tax estimate last night and I really don't need to buy stuff I don't need - if that makes sense :)

I bought the SS pot as it was the only big one there but have no problem returning it.

My plans are CP, liquid and laundry detergent. Those big plastic buckets at Home Depot or a hardware store are pretty cheap.

My first batch was 2lbs and I don't have plans for anything bigger right now (stop snickering!!!)

Thanks!

I'm a little leery of SS pots that come from India or China. Some of them are not true stainless steel. If you can return it; here is a trick that you can do. Make a small amount of a lye solution. Put a couple of drops on the inside bottom and a couple of drops on the inside sides of the pot. If it doesn't react in any way, it might be fine. If it discolors, turns black or starts to bubble, clean up the pot and return it as that's not a true stainless steel.
