Teach Soap

Howdy folks!!

After browsing BB's website numerous times for new products, I realized that there is a certain feature that I would love for the site to have. Product reviews!! Maybe it's just me, but I absolutely LOVE reading people's reviews of items when it comes to buying online, especially when I'm buying something for the first time. Just thought I'd mention it, maybe other people feel the same way.

I love reading product reviews. I always take them with a grain of salt tho, but I've tried quite a few products that I may have passed up if not for the favorable reviews.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

I'm a little leary on the reviews. Have purchased from another site where the reviews on a specific FO came across as fantastic... but my experience with it was much less so. I do read the scent review board, but more for how the FO will behave. And of course I value the input from the ones that give input on this forum. The thing is fragrance is so personal, that personal testing can't be beat.

I agree with you both. I like to use reviews as a guide, but ultimately my final decision is based on my gut feeling. I do think it is helpful to read reviews for items like molds, bases, colorants, and other items/ingredients.

I actually never read customer reviews on any site! Everyone has their own opinion and reviews can run from LOVE it, HATE it and everything in between, so I don't read them and choose to make up my own mind.

I love the reviews and do take them with a grain of salt, knowing that some companies censor what is said. I do find them helpful, though.

I feel the same. Some customers leave really great, reliable reviews, and some just blah blah to earn points (if the website uses that sort of system). I value performance reviews (A, D, or fading) more than if a person likes/sells a lot of the scent or not. I like the idea, and I've often found myself wishing for something like that for BB's FO, but I do realize it would be a lot of work for them to implement and keep up with.

I would love a review system - but I'd like a review system that wasn't edited (some vendors have review systems that they edit) but allowed for comments and interaction from me. For example, someone could review Emerald Labcolor like this:

"I hate this color. It totally came out spotty. Don't waste your money."

In this case, the first thing that comes to mind is that perhaps the customer didn't dilute the Emerald before using it. So, I'd like the chance to say something like:

"It sounds like you might not have diluted the Labcolor before using it. Here's a link to the instructions on how to dilute Labcolors: Try that and let me know how it goes! I'd love to see you revise your 1 star review"

or something like that.

Almost like the cool Disqus commenting system we have at the Soap Queen blog right now.

So, that's why we don't have reviews yet - we just haven't found a great way to put them in yet.

On the other hand Teach Soap forum is a kind of a review system for both BB and other soap supplies resources. So... I like this well enough
