Teach Soap

Oh. Thank you. I don't do candles (always wanted to but never had the $$ to buy those supplies on top of soap supplies) but if I ever decide to try it (I should because I absolutely love candles and it would probably save me money in the long run) I will check them out. Do they have other supplies or is it just candles?

They have other supplies too! I use them for soap and candle supplies, basically what I want that BB doesn't carry. The wax BB sells is (in my opinion) superior to the waves that NG sells, but I am an Eco-soy advocate LOL

Like soap, candles are all about experimenting and mixing to find your perfect recipe. I prefer a 60% Eco-soy, 40% paraffin blend with a touch of coconut oil myself. But other prefer a 50-50 blend with no oil. Really all comes down to what you prefer. The best part about candles is testing new containers/molds and scents. You NEED to test each new idea to make sure it will burn properly. And there are about 10 million different wicks to try, each for a specific candle type/size.

Well that's cool to know some other suppliers. Being in Texas, BB takes awhile to get here and my local supplier was going to sell her business but ended up not but she is really really low on supplies at the moment. It's honestly been about 2 years since I have soaped but I worked out of the home most of it (retail and the hours suck) and then the kiddos had us running every single weekend, so just no time. There is one other local supplier around here but I don't know anything about their products and they are a tad more expensive. I will have to check out NG (ha, look at me, using the acronyms, now that I know what it stands for!) next time I ready to make an order (which is now but can't be now since there is no $$ with 2 kids birthdays and school starting for both in the same month).

I find that it has a nice slow burn, and a good scent throw. The paraffin tends to elongate the burn time over straight soy wax, which melts super fast. I honestly can't remember why the oil is in there LOL I've just been adding it for so long! I BELIEVE it aids with scent throw. I used to use grape seed oil, but I like the coconut better.

I googled it! The oil increases scent throw and helps with adherence to containers (obviously only when you use a container LOL).

Ah ok, I will talk to my mom about it. She has decided she just wants to do candles, and I've been butting in because it's fun and I don't think she really knows how to research stuff. I'll let her know to pick up some paraffin wax too. Do you use fractionated coconut?

I order from a handful of suppliers, I did end up buying a hundred bucks worth of stuff from wsps sale, noticed I was low on a few bases I needed and free shipping is nice when that package gets heavy. I think this one weighs in at about 55 pounds. I noticed a hike in prices as well before the sale. Off note, anyone ever use Santa's pipe fo from them? I have a feeling it'll remind me of my grandpa. He used to smoke a pipe that had cherry tobacco. Never honestly thought id love that smell, but I find myself missing it now that he's gone.

Would a beeswax and soy wax blend work in a similar way?
