Teach Soap

I am in heaven....I have been able to spend a good hour or two each day since college graduation back on May 21st to soap and make bath bombs.

I have been feeding my soul, obviously...as I'm sure you all understand quite well......but I sit here, scratch my head, and wonder how I'm ever going to get a business going (within the year) when I can't keep my product in stock??? It's not OTHER people asking for it.....it's ME! I can't stop using my own products! How will I ever learn what time can and will do to a product? I say this, as I shamefully think of the 13 soaps I have surrounding my bathtub, or ALL the bath bombs I have ever made that seem to have magically "disappeared".

If you're spending 2 hours a day making stuff, there is no way you could possibly use ALL of your products! You only take one, maybe two, baths or showers a day, right? If it takes you 20-30 minutes to make a batch of soap or fizzies, and each batch makes 4-16 bars or fizzies, then that still leaves a LOT left over to sell!

But I also "test" my products, and I think I learn a lot that way too. Makes it easier to sell bar and tell someone about it if you've used it yourself!

I guess I need to clarify the point - I need to stop testing the "best" ones.....I have only been doing about 2-3 MP soaps a night for the last two weeks. Trying to *perfect* a swirl / marble technique....I can't keep my hands off of the "best" ones and they magically find themselves around my bathtub. The rest (the fails) are sent straight to the kitchen sink soap bucket, to my husband's sink, or to my boys' bathroom

Very interesting to know I am not the only one who likes to 'test the stuff'..however I have limited myself to trying for a reason. I have a soy candle business and try to only test burn what needs testing...the lotions and soaps I am trying to add are getting more testing to perfect recipe though! Wondering about selling my soaps cheap for trials to re-coop some money to make the good ones for full price selling

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

My mom is my main 'tester', but she also tends to hoard the soaps! This means I will visit and see a soap I made a year ago by the bathroom sink! Gives me great information on what my soaps do after an extended period of time...

Yep, my mother and two of my friends are currently my testers, besides myself. The twins just want to play with their toys when in the tub so we usually just use a 3-in-1 kids shampoo/conditioner/body wash because that's the easiest for my hubby. Its also one reason why I want to try liquid soap so I can make their own body wash/shampoo Hubby so far hasn't really liked any scent I've done, so he doesn't get any yummy soapies!
