Teach Soap

Did anyone see the episode of Shark Tank a few weeks ago where on of the businesses was a soap business? I didn't get to see it, but my husband watched it. He said that the sharks went crazy for basically neat packaging. She claimed she could make a bar of soap for $0.80 and sell it for between $8-10. Either it's not great soap, or it's not a reflection of the true cost of production. I could see materials costing about 80 cents, but what about the rest of the costs?

She doesn't make the soap and it's sourced from overseas. That's why the soap cost is so low.

It's interesting that Barbara was in on the bidding war. Wasn't she the keynote speaker at last year's soapmakers guild conference? I guess the numbers speak for themselves.
