Does anyone give back a percentage of their sales to charity causes? And at what percent??

I understand that a lot of the members here are just starting out and need the money to re-invest in their business.

Anyone with established business that support themselves and give a portion back to their community???

I just started my business in January and my company contributes to charity. What I do is charge a little more per bar than usual ($5 even each), recoup my costs for material plus 25% (the 25% is for unaccounted costs, like what I pay for shipping to get the materials). 75% of the profits then go to charity. It isn't the most organized system yet, but I really like it because:

1) Monetarily, it costs me nothing. Just the labor.
2) The charity or individual will promote your company for you, bringing in a lot of attention you couldn't get otherwise.
3) You are still giving a decent amount to a good cause of your choice.
4) It looks great on paper and charitable donations are a tax write off!

Win-win-win-win.

Aside from donating soap and other products to a local shelter, I donate 3- 5% of sales (depending what type of item(s) is purchased) to my local no-kill animal shelter. Occasionally I will give to charity of the month [from the EFA (Etsy for Animals) street team] instead of my local shelter, or split the money, but usually I stick to my local one. I am also planning on contributing to a charity that provides hats for chemo patients, but I havent completed them yet.

I donate to environmental organizations and animal rights and rescue organizations.

My extra soap also goes the local womens shelter. Recently I participated in a small craft fair in the community I live in. I made $385 which was kind of cool. Then I put the money, which was in an envelope, in a safe place. It styed safe for about 6 months because I forgot where I put it. When I finally found it I no longer needed it so I gave it to my church.
