Teach Soap

There are a couple of local business, a boutique and a hair salon, that are interested in selling my soap bars. The problem is, I like to keep my prices low and I think selling wholesale would require me to raise my retail prices to a higher MSRP, so the boutiques can make a worthwhile profit. Has anyone ever done this before?

5 oz. bar for $4.25 is pretty low. I would raise your prices. My wholesale prices depend how much they buy. The more they buy, the better the discount.

If your uncomfortable about raising prices dont, and let the boutique & hair salon set their own higher price. Or private label to them.

As a store owner myself, can I give you my 2 cents and say make sure your packaging is perfect. Labels done on most home computers cant take the wear and tear in a store setting, and become tired and damaged looking.

I did take a peak at your web-site and your soaps are lovely. I have no doubt they would sell well in a store.

Thank you both I did raise my prices a little,about 10-25%, but to compensate I now offer free shipping on orders over $25.

margo, thank you for the note from a store owner's perspective. I do print my labels on a home computer, but I then apply them to folded cardstock. They seem to hold up well in the baskets I send to friends' offices, so hopefully that will do in a formal retail setting.
