Just started making new inventory and thinking about giving out samples of my products.

Do you find giving out samples makes for more sales, or just a waste of time, effort and product?

Its also a new packaging dilemma for me, to label and package samples.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If this is an uncharted territory for you, I would ask your family or friends to be your testers first and get some honest feedback before you start handing out testers. What type of products?

Its tried and approved product from friends and family. Mostly M&P and premixed bath products from reputable companies like BB.

Just looking for feedback, if everyone else gets more sales from giving out samples.

I include samples with some of my orders. I use to give out samples at fairs, but didn't get orders from that. People just wanted something for free.

I provide a free sample with every order. I found if I gave out a sample I wouldn't get a sale, but if I gave one with an order they thought it was a nice gesture.

Same here. Giving out samples hasn't garnered me any sales, but including a little something in an order has gotten me repeat business. When I did give samples, I would have people come to my booth 3 or 4 times asking for more samples Now, when I do a craft show or farmers market, I have "testers" but no samples.

My experience has been the same as everyone else's, samples tend to be a waste of time and money unless you include them in with an order being delivered. And I also use samples at shows. It's bad enough when the same person comes back several times to try another spray or perfume, but to ask for another sample gets very aggravating and you have to smile through it! Just say NO to the samples

Meant to add though, those sample sizes sell well for purse sized deals Or as an incentive to get a large bottle, as in you get this purse size free with the large one type deal
