Hi All,

I just tried to put an order in for lye from the lye guy. Does anyone know if there is a problem with his website? Can anyone recommend another site to purchase lye for a decent rate? I checked AAA chemical, but geez they want $35 for shipping. That's a bit high if you ask me for 32oz.

I meant 32#, not ounces.

That's not an unreasonable fee considering UPS Hazmat charge is $22.50 in addition to the freight.

If you use that much up in a short amount of time you might check into getting a 50# bag from a local chemical supplier.

I bought my lye from a local chemical supplier and paid 79.00 plus tax for 50 lbs. The bad part is dividing it up into smaller containers , you should really use a hazmat suit. That should last me quite a while.
