Teach Soap

This is just to vent. It's 2am and I am trying to motivate myself to pack for the flea market. I'm up feeding my granddaughter so my daughter can sleep.I have not made soap for a couple weeks. I have a nice inventory and just formulated something to work on tommorow night.

I am actually angry. Mind you I feel happy and blessed that these forums exist. Selling soap is actually saving my life or at least it's keeping gas in my car. so why am I angry...well in the state of Pennsylvania our governor thought it would be a good ideal not to sign the state budget for 80+ days and thus all human service providers have went without pay since July 1, 2009. The most vulnurable women and children have been thrown under the bus. people are losing both jobs and businesses.

being a crafter is protection for women, I will definately share this fact in the future. I came into making soap for pleasure. Imagine how important crafting is for women in the past and around the world. I guess in this modern world with so much reliance on government and technology, thank god for the simple things in life.

thanks soap buddy I need all the encouragement I can get, it's 6am, well 6:14 am, my daughter just left to open the daycare. We serve women who work nontraditional hours, so Sunday morning we are open. She's been back to work 5 days after the baby was born...and at 20 days old, she has to take this baby out in the rain to open up. I had to lay off 5 women and one has remained on an IOU. I usually make enough at the flea market to gas up the cars, and pay that one employee.

My post tramatic stress is flaring up, holding my granddaughter and being BROKE, takes me back 27 years ago when I had 5 kids and was broke. I built these daycares up...and the state legislature has tore them down in 80 days. So far I only lost one customer but me and my daughter have been working around the clock with no pay for 80 days!

Soap makers are wonderful, and I hope to spread the word to younger women to find something that they love, invest and get good at it in their spare time. It may "feed" you one day.

Positive, POSITIVE thoughts for you that life will very soon start heading in a better direction. I am sorry for what you, and others, are having to go through. Not right... at all.
I am glad you have your soap making. I have said to people that if I did not have my "craft therapy" (I stamp also), I might be curled up in a corner somewhere! (We lost our 19 year old son four years ago.) Easier said than done sometimes but please try to stay strong.

Thank you for all the well wishes and positive thoughts. Stephanie, so sorry abt the loss of your son. I am glad we have each other and the great hobby.

I used that lil mustard seed of strength and faith to go to the flea market even though it was raining. It was a GOOD day! (the flea market is iunder a roof and had heat) After 2 weeks off to make soap, alot of reguar customers were looking for me, so most of my sales were for 3+ bars. Another soaper donated some bars and I sold over a dozen. I was able to gas up both cars and get groceries.

I love you guys. Today I'm part of a group meeting with a state senator to air our issues. But first I shall make soap
