Teach Soap

It looks like the cheap stick blender i got when i first started making soap is nearing the end of its days, and i could really use one that's more durable! Looking inside, i noticed that the inner parts that connect to the shaft are made of plastic which has been completely stripped away, and browsing around various product reviews shows that even some expensive stick blenders are made with cheap plastic gears. I was hoping someone could recommend me a brand that isn't made so cheaply, but i'm kind of on a budget. I don't want to spend more than $100 or so. Does such a stick blender exist? What brand of stick blender do you use, and are you happy with it? Are there any that are particularly long-lasting?

I have a stainless steel Braun, with another Braun as back up. The plastic ones didn't last very long for me.

I always look at the motor size figuring a larger motor will take heaver use. A 300 watt will do more than a 150 watt.

Okay, i found a pretty powerful braun on amazon for like 175 bucks, but on this other site it's going for only 44... Is this a quality blender?

But judging from the other reviews, it seems to be much more reliable than my old one. Is it normal for the inner parts to be plastic and i'm just being paranoid?

Braun for me, with a back up Braun and a Braun previous to this

I tried a cheapie (mine is just midprice Braun) but the very cheap one seems to flick too much air in, so I've stuck to Braun.

I've recently bought a Cuininart Smart Stick and really like it. My husband, the cook, likes the Waring Commercial Big Stick I got him and I bet it'd work well too. I think I paid less than $70.00 for each one.

My current one is a Kitchenaid - I've liked Braun, too.

Thanks for your input, everyone! It looks like that braun i wanted was out of stock wherever i went, so i've settled on a kitchenaid with a 300-watt motor. The tip about the motor size was especially helpful! Now i can be confident that it won't break down on me so easily.

Braun here too , it is about 5 yrs old , going strong , I have a back up Braun too.

Ditto what soapbuddy said .I have an old original braun and found the same one ,as new at a thrift for $5.00. You could check out ebay , if you ebay .
