Finished sending in all my applications for this year's markets. I will be attending 5 per week (assuming I am accepted? lol)

I did 2 per week last year - Sat and Sun. I did really well at both of them, but I think I can do better.

What I'd like to do improve is my signage. I spend a lot of time telling people about my products, when a good sign could be doing a lot of my work for me. My husband has designed my banners and sandwich boards, and they really get people over to my tent, but they are more of the "headline" stuff.

I feel I need more informative - why my soap/cream/etc is better- type signs. But it is so easy to get too wordy , and then people will not stand there and read a big long thing.

I would really love to see some examples of the middle ground - enough info to sell, not enough to overwhelm or bore.

Does anyone know of any online examples/sites?

TIA :P

Based on my experience, people don't read. I have signs with prices and they still ask... LOL
I like talking with my customers as it's more personal than reading a sign. :D

True, they often don't read, but there are people who really don't want to talk and would rather read! I like sign that are short and sweet: your price and three things that you think will sell: vegetable based, handmade, essential oils, whatever you think your audience will be attracted to.

I have had the same experience with people not reading - with a huge sign only inches from them!
But also - I get super busy at these markets, and there is no way I can talk to everyone. I get a big crowd standing around, and surely some of them would read a sign, if I kept it simple.

I like the idea of price +3 features. Then if they really want more info, we can go from there.

Still love to see examples, if anyone has any. I look at a lot of google images for Farmers Market tents, Craft Fair displays, etc... but am always open to more.

Sorry, I don't have any pics of my signage. My banner lets people know that all of my soaps are made with olive oil, but in addition to that, I use small signs next to the soaps themselves. Maybe you could use something like them for your purpose. Mine are usually to give people ideas on why soap is a great gift. I use a small block of wood with a tiny hole drilled in the top. I insert a piece of wire about a 12 - 18 inches long into the block. The other end of the wire is twisted into a spiral, so that it can hold a piece of card stock in my colors with suggestions printed on them, like "Perfect teacher's gift!", or "Great way to say thank you." or "Makes a great hostess gift." You might use one for your cream that says something like "Great for winter skin." or your soap "Cleans without drying your skin." or "Gentle enough for babies!" or "Made with all natural ingredients." Whatever suits your purpose. You can cut the card stock into hearts for Valentine's Day, a flower for Spring, pumpkin for Halloween, etc. Or whatever goes with your brand. These statements are short and sweet, and they're right there on the table next to your soaps, so that customers don't have to back up to read your banner or sandwich boards. I will try to find one and take a pic. Hope this helps.

Sorry about the photo, flash decided to play hookey today. It will give you an idea of what I tried to describe. People really do notice them, I often hear comments like, "Oh yeah, I almost forgot to get a teacher's gift, or Yes, this would be great as a hostess gift." So I'm sure they would notice your playing up certain aspects of your products too.
