Just a little update . . . by the time I was done with booth space and tent rental, it totaled $850. I'm excited to see my sissy. I am not nervous about the festival except whether I will have enough soap or too little because I don't know how to judge for quantity. Right now I have about 4500 bars of soap in various stages. Some are in molds waiting to be unmolded, some are curing, some are ready to wrap, the rest are wrapped, labeled and ready to go. I'm only going to soap for 2-3 more weeks and then that's it. Need time to cure, cut, wrap, etc. I want to have nothing to do for the week prior to the festival because I'll have all the last minute stuff. Looking forward to it. Besides my Sissy, I have a Male friend. This way, one of us can run to the bathroom and still have two of us there. Only my Sissy or I will be handling money. My Buddy is muscle for lifting and setting up and giving out info. I truly appreciate the advice!

So this thread is about vendor fees . . . what's everyone else doing?

Nothing as exciting as you!
I'm just getting ready for Farmer's Market season which starts in about 8 weeks. And this year the town has approved the construction of an enclosed pavilion at a park near our lake so the market will be relocating as soon as it is finished...no more tents and porta-potties - YAY!

That sounds wonderful! It also reminds me to pack a roll of TP for our use in the Port-a-Potties!

I put in a request to be a vendor at my towns bi-annual craft fair in late April to test the market in my area for soap products. It costs $75 and is a one day event. I have a few friends who have sold other types of crafts there in the past so one of my friends who is a part time crafter and I have split the cost and space (if we get it). I wanted to have someone to learn from for my first time, you have to bring your own tables/tents etc to this event and it is outdoors. The town has been doing it for years so it's well known in the area. I'm getting anxious about whether or not we will get a space, the website states that due to an increased number of applications over the last few years they can't always grant everyone a space, and I'm sure there are regulars who are automatically accepted. One thing in my favor is that neither I nor anyone else who has been to these fairs have seen anyone else selling soaps, so maybe I will get in with originality if nothing else.

I've been scouting other venues just in case this one doesn't work out, one big one day event at a horse show is around $250, which is way out of my price range, but they apparently supply tables and three sided booths with extra charge for a tent. Small local events are usually under $100, one in a neighboring town is going to be in June but that may be too hot for my soaps, hard to tell.

Good luck with your craft show!

Soaps should be ok in the heat -- they just perfume the air!
