Teach Soap

I have a question.
It is my understanding that the definition of Castile soap is 100% olive oil and Bastile or castile (lower case c) soap is all other vegetable oils.
Am I correct in this understanding or am I misinformed? I have been trying to gather all kinds of information so I can answer questions correctly, as I do make 100% Castile soaps and do not want to ever mislabel anything.

Castile "should" be all olive oil and nothing else, except there is a well known manufacturer at health food stores that sells his liquid soap as castile and it's mostly other oils. To me, bastile is olive oil with other oils added.

I've always know it as Castile = Olive Oil only. Bastile - Bastard version of Castile = Olive + other oils.

ok so I am correct in what I was thinking that his is bastile, he refereed me to some blog that of course HE writes. I wanted to make sure I was giving my customers the right information. I am not even going to comment back to his comment other then to say I will look into his blog. I am biting my tongue and behaving. TRYING to be a good little girl since "santa" is coming and I want the ash imps to stay away. :)

very true, but I at least know mine is true Castile, since I do only use 100% olive. I love making that stuff and it always comes out the prettiest white. Everyone in my house LOVES it. I have been seeing recipes online where EO's have been added. I am not sure if that's allowed or not to keep it pure Castile. I might try it one of these days but for now I have just been keeping it unscented and pure.

It's annoying when soapers who know better tell you the other oils in their "castile" soap. I do not call my recipe that's a little over 50% olive oil a bastille because I read a Bastille has to be at least 70% olive oil.
