Has anyone experienced, or have your customers complained about clogged drains from using natural soap?

I ask this because I noticed in my bathroom sink some kind of slime building up that looks JUST like the slime that sits in the bottom of my soap dish when I let my soap stay there and not dry out.

Then a few weeks ago at my grandparent's home, suddenly, and after several years of no problems, their kitchen sink backed up and the drain was full of gooey gunk. This is the main sink in the house where my grandmother washes her hands in the morning with the soap I made for her.

Now, I know as a soaper I feel that Im not responsible for telling my "customers" that this soap might clog their drain so to use caution and some Draino once in a while.....that might cause them to NOT buy my soap.

Thoughts?

I haven't had any problems and we use my handmade soap at all the sinks and in both showers.

I've been using my CP soap in my shower and at both the kitchen and bathroom basin for over a year now and never had any problems. Never heard anything from my customers. What is the recipe that you use?

The recipe is basically 6 oz coconut, 6 oz olive and 9 oz crisco - though not always. I use this one a lot, but have made plenty of other soaps without the crisco and subbed shea butter, cocoa butter and almond oil to make up that part.

I have never had any issues. And I am not sure it would be the cause but what is your superfat %. Alot of times clogged drains occur over years of build up. Were the drains easy to open?

My pipes only get blocked up after my long haired daughter has visited. Her excess hair blocks them every time.

soap is soluble in water - it seems unlikely to be the cause.

Worse actually hehe, pink slime in the drain is huge colonies of psuedomonas bacteria! These little guys LOVE soap, natural soap more so than syndet. You can nuke em with bleach or peroxide, then wipe them away.
