As I'm learning more about handcrafting toiletries and soaps it occurs to me that I am at some point bound to duplicate someone else's recipe. I don't want to steal ideas or step on toes, so can anyone tell me if there is a place where I can find out if something specific has already been done? I also don't want a suit for inadvertently copying someone's work.

Thanks!

Unless it has been copyrighted, I don't think you have anything to worry about. I'm sure there are recipes out there that people use that are either the same or very similar. Instead of copying a recipe from the net, start from scratch, get to know your ingredients and make your own recipe.

I definitely want to make my own recipes, but as the saying goes, "there's nothing new under the sun." I just didn't want to upset anyone if I made something I thought was original and it turned out not to be.

Thanks!
