Teach Soap

So, I ordered my oils from my friend that runs a local restaurant. His price on olive oil and coconut were unbelievable and no shipping charges, living in Alaska that is a BIG THING. So I get the olive oil that I ordered yesterday. I have 35 pounds of a 25% olive oil 75% canola oil mix. Is there anyway that I can use it beside making a salad that would feed thousands??

Ouch! No wonder the price was so good...
Canola oil is ok for soap if used in very small amounts - like up to 10%. A lot of soapers say it causes their soap to get DOS (Dreaded Orange Spots) and that is not a good thing.

Other than cooking, I don't know of another way to use it all.

Canola is considered a soft oil with a fairly short shelf life. I would not use it above 10% either.

Thanks, you just confirmed everything that I had read. Was just holding my breath that someone would jump up and down screaming "I have a recipe for OO/CO blend. Oh well such is life. Need to talk to him and see if I can get a 100% OO.

I know soap queen has quite a few recipes on her blog that include canola oil. I have not tried any of them but they look great. Maybe someone here has tried one and can give you some feedback.
