My fellow goats milk soapers:) My first batch of goats milk seems to be taking longer to cure..is this normal? Dying to try it!

What was your recipe and method? How big of a batch and how much did you superfat? When did you make it? Did it gel?

It was a small batch...
.56 oz almond oil
1.96 oz castor oil
6.44 oz coconut oil
8.4 oz palm and olive oils
2.24oz shea butter
3.7 oz lye
10.64 oz water

with an 8% superfat and 2 Tbsp goats milk powder! Oh and an oz of lavender EO.

You don't have enough lye and too much water. 3.7 ozs. of lye is a 11% superfat. 3.8 ozs. of lye is 8% superfat. For that size batch you would need 7 to 10 ozs. of water. Do you have a scale that goes to the third decimal point on the right?

My scale has 2 decimal points, I ran my recipe through soapcalc so I am surprised it was incorrect! So long story...its going to take a while to cure:)

And wow that amazing how that tiny bit of difference would effect the superfat so much, I am going to look at the recipe again to make sure it wasn't 3.7...something closer to 8!

So in a nutshell, milk soaps shouldn't take any longer to cure?
