Teach Soap

So I am sure that most of you on here have watched or heard of Mythbusters right? Well tonight my husband and I were watching some older episodes and we turned on the one about the exploding jawbreaker. Well they were doing an experiment and decided to do something with lye. It has been years since I've seen this episode so I didn't remember any of it. My jaw dropped open when I am saw them put some lye in some paper cups and then add water to it!!! Then to top it off they put it in the microwave!!! There were no big explosions or lye volcanoes but the mixture did catch fire in the microwave. I was in complete shock!

This is why there is a disclaimer that says, "Don't try this at home!"

LOL - my friends son is a Mythbusters ADDICT! Even named one of their goats "MythBuster" and he loves to watch that show (I'll have to ask if he knows that episode, I bet he does)....it's CRAZY some of the stuff they do...very little actual value beyond the shock value...but you have got to admit, watching things go boom with no danger to yourself can be fun

Ehh, I used to play with Lye in the microwave. You make a solution of lye so strong you have to heat it to get it all to melt, then let it cool. Once it cools all it takes is adding one crystal of lye to get it to instantly go solid.
